If you followed their career, this is a must read for you. Harold and Don tell a great story of how the Statler Brothers came to be one of the greatest vocal groups ever. The book is written by Don and Harold, each taking turns to write in their voice stories that relate their experiences. With each person writing a chapter or part of a chapter, the story can be a little “jerky” but is never unsatisfying. The book is somewhat heavy in its focus on how the group started and relays alot of information about Johnny Cash and what it was like to work with him. The stories contain alot of information about the choices the group made and the various careers that they may have helped to launch. As a big fan of the Statlers, I found the book enjoyable, but remaining professional as both brothers work to keep their personal lives private. I would highly recommend the book to any fan, or to anyone who is curious about the Statlers and their career.
